Provident claims

What happened to Provident, and what you can still do.

Check my lending claim

Provident (Provident Personal Credit) was the UK’s best-known doorstep lender. The same company ran Satsuma loans.

Claims against Provident have closed. Provident stopped lending in 2021 and set up a scheme of arrangement covering loans from April 2007 to December 2020. The claim deadline was 28 February 2022 and has passed; it paid about 4.26p in the pound. The company was dissolved in 2024, so new claims aren’t possible. The scheme didn’t cover Vanquis credit cards, which you can still complain about.

What you can still do

  • Check your other lenders. Most people who used Provident also borrowed elsewhere, and many of those lenders still trade. See which lenders we check.
  • Check your credit file. If old accounts show wrongly (for example as unpaid when they were settled or written off), you can ask for them to be corrected. See how to get your credit report for free.
  • If your loan was sold to a debt purchaser, you can still complain to them about how they’re collecting it.

Questions people ask

Can I still claim against Provident?

No, not in the normal way. The scheme didn’t cover Vanquis credit cards, which you can still complain about.

I never heard about the scheme or administration. Can I claim late?

Usually not. Once a claims deadline has passed, late claims aren’t accepted, even if you didn’t know about it.
